Almanzo 100 by T.C. Worley and Tony Franklin – Filmmaker in attendance

The infamous Almanzo 100 gravel bike race has seen some dramatic changes over the past year. Entrance to the always free and self-supported ride that began with twelve cyclists in Rochester, MN and grew to over 1,000 cyclists annually in Spring Valley, MN required one postcard per person for admission.
Created in 2013, this short film connects with founder Chris Skogan and gives a brief historical glimpse of one of the most prominent races in gravel bike racing.
Music for Free by Ben Weaver – Filmmaker in attendance

In the summer of 2018, musician Ben Weaver and filmmaker Keenan DesPlanques took on the Great Divide Mountain Bike Route from Banff, Alberta, Canada to Antelope Wells, New Mexico for their Music For Free tour. Riding self-supported with instruments and camera gear they stopped along the 3,000-mile route to give 16 scheduled performances.
Their film, Music For Free, is a beautiful journey down this iconic American corridor, exploring wilderness, what it means to be wild, and examining the common denominators we all hold dear as human beings who share this planet.
Discovering the Dead River Forest by Heart of the Lakes – Filmmaker in attendance

Imagine having access to 190-acres of forestland as a recreational and educational resource for the entire community.
That's the goal the Upper Peninsula Land Conservancy has in mind for the proposed Dead River Community Forest. This project would be a multi-partner collaboration that will protect and give the public access to 190 acres of healthy, diverse riparian forest adjacent to the Vielmetti-Peters Conservation Reserve.
The locals who've hiked through the trees and paddled along the river's shoreline know the potential and impact this vital resource will have on a community and state of outdoor enthusiasts.

Twice per year, John Reamer and Brett Storrar invite friends to experience Camp 46 in Voyageurs National Park. A concept, not a place, Camp 46 immerses participants in nature and camaraderie for multi-day adventures in the wilderness designed to offer new experiences, explore personal frontiers and open doors for meaningful conversation outside the realm of every day life. Participants are only invited once and each expedition is a unique adventure.

In March of 2018, Reamer and Storrar skied the circumference of Lake Kabetogama, winter camping along the way. Proving once again, adventure is right outside your back door.

Rescued lions and tigers are living their lives in Northern Minnesota. Rescued from around the world they live in spacious habitats with a life free of exhibition. The Wildcat Sanctuary gives each cat the opportunity, often for the first time in their lives, to choose a path to walk and a place to lie down.
As a true sanctuary, they do not breed, buy, sell or exhibit animals. Committed to public education about the captive wildlife crisis, the sanctuary seeks to create a world where wild animal sanctuaries are no longer needed.

Michigan's outdoor industry is an economic powerhouse reaching $26.6 billion in consumer spending and 232k direct jobs. This may come with little surprise knowing Michigan has a wealth of forests, trails, rivers, and lakes — rivaling top outdoor states such as Colorado, Montana, and California.
What sets Michigan apart?
The 4,500 miles of coastline known as the Great Lakes.
Michigan residents and businesses thrive on the revenue brought in from the Great Lakes, but these extra footprints in the sand raise concerns for our coastlines. Some businesses in the outdoor industry have adopted the outdoor lifestyle branding and the importance of advocating the conservation of our coasts.

RULES AND TERMS to SUBMIT YOUR FILM
All films need to relate to outdoor adventure and have been completed in 2016 or later and should be under 30 minutes in length. Shorter films are encouraged!
We have two categories for submissions:
AdventureMN – for films by Minnesota filmmakers or based in Minnesota
Midwest and Beyond – for all adventure films not related to Minnesota

NOTE: Overall, special consideration will be given to filmmakers and topics from the following states: Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Wisconsin.
